| | How
to join McDowell Water Polo Most
freshmen who enter high school have never seen, much less played, water polo.
It's on television late at night every four years. Don't let a lack of
experience deter you.
We are a fall sport so practice starts Monday, August 13, 2007 at 8:00 a.m. You need
to get a physical. You can get a $8.00 school physical on Saturday, June 18, 2005, at
10:00 a.m. Pick up a packet of forms at the MIHS pool or at the McDowell
athletic office and have them all signed when you come for your physical. If you
get a physical from your private physician have him or her complete the PIAA
physical card and bring all those forms the first day of practice. No one can
practice without a physical and the signed forms.
We will will teach you how to pass the ball, although an
ability to tread water and swim is sort of a prerequisite. If you want to get a
jump on the rules and skills of water polo, we have conditioning after school
weekdays in April and May and on Monday evenings in the summer.
During the season, water polo practice is held after
school, 2:45-5:15 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., except
when we are have a tournament. Every practice is mandatory unless you get an
excused absence from the coach.
