| | How
to join McDowell Water Polo Water
polo is a fun team sport that combines swimming skill with some of the most
exciting aspects of basketball, soccer and hockey. If you understand how to
handle a ball and advance it across a playing field, how to set up shots with
plays, picks, and drives, and how to play defense, you don't have to be an
awesome swimmer. But you do have to swim alot in practice and games, and the
more efficiently you swim the easier it is to get open, catch and shoot the
ball, and change direction to play good defense.
Pick up a packet of forms and get them filled out and
signed before bringing them to the official physical offered at McDowell.
If you
get a private physical from your physician, bring the PIAA physical card with
you so the doctor can fill it out. If you get a private physical you need to
bring all your forms the first day of practice.
No one can practice without a physical and without all
your signed forms.
Water
Polo is a fall sport in Pennsylvania high school and our first practice is
Monday, August 13, 2007 at 8:00 a.m.
Arrive for tryouts in good physical shape. You may want
to swim in the spring and summer and/or go to a water polo camp. We offer water
polo conditioning for girls at the MIHS pool after school weekdays in April and
May and on Monday evenings in the summer.
Only about 14 players make the traveling team and most
of our competitions are out-of-town so it can be competitive. Good luck!
